State LWCF Liaisons
Every LWCF stateside grant — including the ones Tribal Governments are now directly eligible for under the EXPLORE Act — flows through a State Liaison Officer (SLO). Your state's SLO is the person who manages the application cycle, sets state-specific priorities and scoring criteria, and serves as the formal pass-through to the National Park Service.
For most Tribal Governments, a relationship with the SLO is the single most important early step. They can tell you when the next application window opens, what their state plan prioritizes, and how Tribal projects fit. The National Park Service maintains a current directory of every state's LWCF Liaison Officer.
